MMO or Life

Well this is the point of no return in a way.
I recon the day you start a blog is the day you sell your soul to the net……hold on I started play'n MMO's ages ago. On that topic lets start a MMO discussion.

Now for those of you that don’t know MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online). Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) or Google (http://www.google.co.uk) it if you want to know more than this:
Game developers came up with this kick @ss idea that multiplayer was not enough and started developing games that loads of people can play in real time on the same plane at the same time online. Now this is a brilliant idea. Hundreds (These days millions.) of people that share the same interests can run around together and well do things (Mainly some sort of Quest.) together and gain rewards for it. Mind you virtual awards. As in not real. Anyway back to the point for most of these games / MMO's you pay a monthly fee to play. So you play real money to gather virtual money (In most cases.) to buy virtual items for your character to be able to beat up bigger monsters. Now don’t get me wrong, I love MMO's but what I want to try and figure out is why. Is it the satisfaction of knowing you are a hardcore toon (Character.) phwning (Killing) big @ss (Big @ss) monsters, something you cant really do in real life or the fact that you can interact with other people and not worry about any of life's problems. Wait that wasn’t the point I was trying to make……Life is short right and according to most religions you only get one. So is it a waste to spend (In some cases.) 20 hours a day play'n a MMO. If you enjoy it and you get some sort of satisfaction out of play'n it. If it makes you enjoy life that little bit more.

MMO and in my case WOW is a social bullet to the brain. the usual defense is, "but you make new friends online". okay, but when I actually meet those okes all we do is talk about wow. o.0

I'm just tired of running around, wacking sprites in some attempt at saving the lives in a fictional world. while i could be growing and doing some constructive in my life.

I have to agree with you on that one. In the name of fun!! Just a shame they had to kill off RF-Online, I loved that game. T_T
